A Design Stylebook for Houseplants

Pittsburgh, Pa. (March 28, 2013) – Today, houseplants are a key element in interior design – as important as furniture in defining one’s personal style, say many top designers.  Indoor Plant Décor (St. Lynn’s Press, April 15, 2013), captures this popular trend for the rest of us and shows how easy it is to bring fresh energy and style into a home, apartment or dorm room.  With an almost unlimited combination of plants, containers and arrangements available now, it’s possible to quickly change the look and feel of any living space.

Plant and design experts Kylee Baumle and Jenny Peterson know that adding living plants to the interior décor pays off in enjoyment, pride of place, and an increased sense of well being (not to mention lower blood pressure, higher creativity and cleaner air).

With full-color photographs throughout, Indoor Plant Décor inspires creativity with style tips, simple DIY projects and a user-friendly guide to plant selection and care.  The book features eight distinct design styles – like Peaceful Zen, Classic Elegance and Vintage Vibe – and illustrates what can happen when just the right plants are paired with just the right containers, whether traditional, offbeat or whimsical.  The authors show how fun it can be to look beyond store-bought containers and re-purpose family heirlooms, thrift store finds and even oddments from the attic.  The big idea here is to free the creative imagination and create a very personal and individualized décor.

“Kylee Baumle and Jenny Peterson’s passion for designing with indoor plants makes them the perfect guides to help us make new, fresh and stylish additions to every room.   The brilliance of Indoor Plant Decor is its clarity in communicating their creative ideas.”

P. Allen Smith, author of the bestselling Bringing the Garden Indoors: Container, Crafts and Bouquets for Every Room, and host of the PBS television show, “Garden Home.”

Indoor Plant Décor combines upbeat, friendly advice with serious plant and design information. This is a visually striking book, ideal for personal use or as a gift.
