Happy Forget-Me-Not Day!

Random holiday, right? But we like the meaning behind it: November 10 is a day to remember and reconnect with friends and family members in your life that you might not see regularly.

It’s fun! They’ll love hearing from you! Clear out your schedule and take some time to let your loved ones know how wonderful they are and that they’re never forgotten.

This holiday also celebrates the small, simple and beautiful little flower best known as the forget-me-not (Myosotis spp). We tend to overlook small, simple things in the garden when there’s so much else to look at. So let’s celebrate this five-petaled flower AND all of people we might overlook in the busy garden of life!

Did You Know: Forget-me-nots are the state flower for Alaska.

Did You Know: Blue forget-me-nots are the most recognizable and beloved, but they also come in shades of pink and white.

With that in mind:

Reach out to a friend and ask them if they want to grab coffee.

Give your grandma a call. I know you’ve been putting it off!

Ask your aunts and uncles how they feel about the outcome of the election (tread lightly here…)

Send an e-mail to an old co-worker.

Mail a letter or card just because.

Or better yet, share some seeds with these loved ones (in Zones 4-9) and encourage them to incorporate blue, pink or white forget-me-nots into their garden.
